ALI AUTOGRAPHED EVERLAST BOXING TRUNKS
$2,950.00
Muhammad Ali signed 'Everlast' Boxing Trunks
Cassius Marcellus Clay was born January 17th 1942. In 1964 he converted to Islam and was renamed 'Muhammad Ali'. Muhammad was 3 times heavyweight champion of the world and fought in the most primal sport of our day for more than twenty years. So filled with wonders and uncertainty, so enlarged by the magic of his beliefs, that we will indeed never see another figure to grace the sport like him. Self proclaimed 'The greatest of all time', Ali proved himself worthy of the title with 2 decades of ring dominance. He turned professional in 1960 after bringing home the Gold medal from the Rome Olympics.
On the 25th February 1964 at Miami Beach Florida, Cassius Clay at the young age of 22 shocked the world by dethroning Sony Liston by way of knockout in the 7th round, as depicted in the photo collage. It was after this that he changed his faith and his name to Muhammad Ali.
In Zaire on October 30th 1974, Ali won his 2nd World Championship by demonstrating his ring brilliance against George Foreman winning 'The Rumble in the Jungle' by way of knockout in the 8th round as shown in this memorabilia piece.
Ali held the Championship Title until 36yrs of age and regained it an unprecedented third time by disposing of Leon Spinks in a rematch bout on the 15th September 1978 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Leaving the sport he loved with a record 56 wins - 37 by way of knockout, he trekked along pilgrimage through religion and democracy to find himself an icon that will forever touch the hearts of men. Ali has been the very benchmark by which all professional athletes are now measured. One sports writer once wrote about Ali saying, 'There are many men that are affected by the times in which they live but there are few that actually shape them'.
These Everlast boxing trunks were signed by the great man voted 'Athlete of the Century'. Also 3 black and white photos and plaque accompany this great item of memorabilia.
Ali is an inspiration to everyone, however with his deterioration due to Parkinson's disease, Ali's management has now stopped Ali signing for the near future making this piece of sporting history and memorabilia a very appreciable item for years to come.
Piece measures 1200mm x 1000mm
